Green Neighbors Program

The Clark County Green Neighbors Program was developed and is maintained by Clark County Solid Waste and Environmental Outreach to assist citizens with developing more sustainable lifestyles and building a strong environmental community in Clark County. Solid waste regional planning and programs are a cooperative effort of Battle Ground, Camas, Clark County, La Center, Ridgefield, Vancouver, Washougal, and Yacolt. Funding for this project provided by a grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology.

May Workshops: Composting, Wormbins, and Green Cleaning!


​Its Spring here in Clark County, and that means that means the Master Composter Recycler Program is starting another season of workshops! Different composting methods, waste reduction, reducing household toxins, and much more are in store. Be sure to register beforehand so preparations can be made. Backyard Composting Workshop

Saturday, May 4th, 10 a.m. - noon at Heritage Farm, Hazel Dell. Construct a compost pile with experts and learn how to heat up your pile following the SMART method. View demonstration compost bins in action. Turn your yard waste into garden gold

Lasagna Compost Garden

Saturday, May 18th, 10 a.m. - noon at CASEE Center, Brush Prairie
Build and plant a raised bed garden. No tilling or turning required and most materials are free! Don't worry if your soil is clay, sand, grass or weeds - this method goes right over the top.

Vermincoposting/Worm Bins

Red Worm Composting

Wednesday, May 8th, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Heritage Farm, Hazel Dell
Construct a worm bin. Turn your kitchen trimmings into garden gold. To receive a worm bin you must reply to a seperate confirmation email (due to limited supplies).

Green Cleaning

Wednesday, May 22nd, 6-8 Heritage Farm, Hazel Dell
Make three versatile household green cleaners and see how fun and safe cleaning can be. Kit and ingredients provided at no charge. To receive a green clean kit you must reply to a seperate confirmation email (due to limited supplies).
